Supporting Smart Development
The North Rosslyn Civic Association (NRCA) is actively working with Arlington County to ensure thoughtful development in our community. Through our participation in the County's Site Plan Review Committee process, we've taken a clear stance on the proposed Rosslyn One development project.
Our Position
We support Arlington County's decision not to replace the pedestrian bridge over Langston Boulevard as part of the new development. Instead, we're advocating for safe, well-designed at-grade pedestrian crossings that will better serve our community's needs.
This decision is crucial for several reasons. Residents have been waiting years for the long-anticipated Gateway Park renovation. The County has committed community benefits from the CoStar observation deck project to fund this park improvement. Any delays caused by reconsidering the pedestrian bridge could jeopardize this critical community amenity.
Our focus remains on creating a truly walkable, well-connected Rosslyn. We believe enhanced street-level crossings will better serve residents, workers, and visitors than rebuilding an overhead bridge. This approach aligns with modern urban planning principles that prioritize accessible, ground-level pedestrian infrastructure.
